St. Andrew's YOUTH IN MISSION
TWO PROJECTS

#1: CLEAN WATER WELL
OUR YOUTH are working with ELCA World Hunger Appeal
to help provide a clean water well to a needy village.

This will help eliminate suffering in a community where waterborne diseases
run rampant.
If you would like to assist our youth on this worthy project,
you may leave donations at the well located in the narthex.

Checks may be made out to: St. Andrew's Lutheran Church with "clean water"
on the memo line.
#2: ANIMAL MISSION

30 Hour Famine
Friday, February 17th, 2012 – Saturday, February 18,

Youth in 8th grade and up, are challenged to join us.
30 Hour Famine is an international youth movement to
fight hunger. It will bring our group closer together
and to God. Students fast for thirty hours and raise
funds to help feed and care for children around the
world. By sacrificing and serving others, they are
learning to think outside themselves and see the
world as Christ sees it.   All money donated will go
directly to the World Vision Program. On Friday, we
will stop eating after an early breakfast (Make sure you
have a big, healthy breakfast! Suggested time to start
fasting is 8 am). We will meet on Friday night at 6:30 in
parish hall for an evening of prayer, games and a
movie. We will be participating in PB & J night to start
our night off.  Juice and water will be provided
throughout the famine. We will be sleeping in the
sanctuary. Saturday will be filled with fun, games and
opportunities for community service. The Famine will
be completed at 2:00 PM and we will then break the
fast with a celebration meal. We are looking for some
food donations… if you would like to help donate a
dish, please call Debbie for details.
Pick up will be at 3:00 PM.
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to be part of
this international event.  Permission slips are required
and will be sent by email as well as handed out at
confirmation class.

ATTENTION:  Confirmation students that are in 6th
and 7th grade are invited to participate in the famine
through prayer, or partaking in another form of
fasting.  Students can choose to give up a cell phone,
an ipod, television, a favorite food, gossiping,
complaining etc. in order to fundraise money for our
famine.  For every thirty dollars that we raise, we will
be able to provide food for a child for a whole month.
Think about all of the children that we can help!!! If
you are interested in this famine, or have any
questions please email me for more information. Our
goal is to raise awareness about world hunger as well
as how we can make a difference in preventing it.
Love God. Raise Funds. Feed the world.
It really is that simple.
